I don't agree, pretend that we were made by another species for a sec. Then think of all the shit we don't know, dark areas. Just suppose we were designed not to go into these forbidden zones in the 1st place.
Ai will come in via devices you carry or wear, like fit watches and phone texts...phone tells you to get a vaccine... if you do, AI wins...your watch tells you your heartbeat is too fast so the doc gives you statins...Ai wins...turn the shit off...we win. its that simple. but we all saw the sheep during the fake pandemic....vaccine has literally had its definition changed by Cambridge ( not the oxford one) it doesnt vaccinate you but they all took it...masks never worked but they all wore em...70% will jump at the chance to be told what to do...the rest of us will ignore it.
Our time is rich in inventive minds, the inventions of which could facilitate our lives considerably. We are crossing the seas by power and utilize power also in order to relieve humanity from all tiring muscular work. We have learned to fly and we are able to send messages and news without any difficulty over the entire world through electric waves.
However, the production and distribution of commodities is entirely unorganized so that everybody must live in fear of being eliminated from the economic cycle, in this way suffering for the want of everything. Furthermore, people living in different countries kill each other at irregular time intervals, so that also for this reason any one who thinks about the future must live in fear and terror. This is due to the fact that the intelligence & character of the masses are incomparably lower than the intelligence and character of the few who produce some thing valuable for the community.
I trust that posterity will read these statements with a feeling of proud and justified superiority.
Posting this here as I need a conversation on it. Any time I try to speak to people in reality I'm met with a reaction that I'm a conspiracy theorist. But I can't be the only one who is finding less joy or hope in the world. I have felt like Littlebiggy is one of the last places you get any decent service or consideration from people.
People don't care about other people's lives anymore and this has been very notable since the pandemic. Society is completely non existent a part from what is on people's phones. I don't see anyone I know making plans together as much. I feel a distinct lack of joy from the majority people I meet. I try and be sociable as I have always been but the ignorance makes me question this approach.
Am I alone in thinking this??? or have I needed to consider a T break long ago. I don't plan on giving up as weed is a mainstay that helps me but probably I think too deeply at times.
To sum up, this seems to be the easy period of history for humans to survive as life is easier but that doesn't mean it is any better. Technology is making us all individuals and it is making me lose hope. I remember people being more fun and actually caring about others. Don't see that much or at all now.
“Loss of Hope” is a very real condition and is hugely responsible for modern freakish levels of depression, anxiety and suicide.
Faith and trust have been eroded. The pandemic shone a harsh light on the weakness and ineptitude of global governance and our institutions. We feel helpless and vulnerable to future crisis, be it economic, health, mass migration or climate change.
In the Western world, democracy is failing us and capitalism actually IS eating itself.
Ambition seems drained. I know young people who don’t only have no idea what they want to do but can’t decide if that matters. Amongst older people I know ‘Quiet Quitters’- those who boast of doing the very minimum required to not actually be fired, normally working from home that they now insist is an entitlement. I know people adept at crafting lives on benefits.
As a result I think people deciding they need to ‘look after #1’, and whilst this may sound like a noble intention it manifests itself as getting whatever you can and gaming the system. He who stores the most toilet rolls during a shortage ‘Wins’!
Lack of trust breeds cynicism and disrespect. Conspiracy theories rage across the plague of social media. Ultimately we feel helpless- we know The Storm is coming but we don’t know how to stop or even influence it.
So how do we cope? zz87 gives a great list of examples. Sometimes we have to get out of our own way and out of our own heads and do things just for others (which of course I don’t do nearly enough).
There really are huge benefits to unplugging devices and listing what is good right now in our lives. During a few hard times I’ve asked myself “what are the things I really enjoy most in life?” and then relentlessly pursued those even when shamelessly hedonistic. I still find old friends hugely therapeutic- probably because we only talk about the old times!😂
And I get high every day. And drink fine tequila. And know one person loves me. All of which make me happy…😍
This might not apply to you since you said you try to be sociable but a lot of people spend too much time online and I think any bigga struggling with the modern world should consider that. Stay away from the internet! (except for littlebiggy ofcourse! haha).
Just live your own life, your life is small, your life isn't a global network of american-led idiots who have formed a virtual mob to have a faux opinion on everything that doesn't involve them so don't worry about those losers and go outside and live that nice life that you're dreaming of.
Don't let your life be all about work/money either slow things down whenever you get the chance. Walk by a river, go to the countryside, go to the beach, go to a museum, go to a library, a walking tour, a sports event, an art class, join a hobby club, volunteer, plant some seeds, get on a train or a bus to nowhere... go do real life outside things and notice the people who don't have a phone in their hand, those are your new friends. There's still lots of nice, friendly caring people out there, they just don't have social media accounts.
Also if you can join an environmental group near you; litter picking, river cleaning, beach combing, tree planting, biodiversity conservation, there is always something worthwhile to be done. Some people will huff and roll their eyes at that but if you want to feel good then do good... that's all I say I'm not preaching.
Either that or sit in your filth and misery and join the internet mob in raising your blood pressure by virtually yelling at clouds.... there are no right or wrong answers its your life!
I wrote this as a reminder to myself as much as anything else btw... go get on with your own life ZZ! :)
You read Steven Pinker I guess? Aside from his methodology being suspect, his thing hinges on confirmation bias ala Fukuyama; just because it hasn't happened yet don't mean it won't. We have the weaponry to make WW2 look like Disneyland. Even with the conventional, Rwanda managed 500000 in 2 months.
And bread and circuses are as old as the hills. Rick Owens don't make nuclear winter proof clothes.
Polly touched on something that I found to be hugely beneficial and that is helping others as much as you can.
Even if it’s only your own circle of friends/family start there and work outwards, help a local charity or whatever you can do to help someone local in need… Do what you can to help others less fortunate is something I live by and there are loads of ways you can do that that don’t need explanation, you’re adults you can work it out! :)
Also, I got rid of any social media crap apps a few years ago and it’s such a relief not to check the bloody phone for hours on end staring vacantly at a screen. Get out and about, go for a walk with your loved ones or even just on your own for half an hour makes a huge difference.
Physical exercise is also really important. I usually run a few times a week and as I’m in my mid 50s I’m almost the same weight I was when I was 18 which is incredible, and that’s down to exercise and another really important element - eating healthily.
Take regular breaks from imbibing, I’m on an enforced one at the moment as picked up a nasty chest infection. It does wonders to abstain from indulgence once on a while. It cleans out the mind and keeps you fresh. Also try and drink lots of water every day at least 4 litres if you can although 2 is fine, you’ll be surprised at how much dehydration affects your physical well-being.
Smile. Smile when your talk to people or if you make eye contact (generally) I’m not talking about grinning like an idiot at folks, that liable to get you some funny looks! Read a book, I also try not to watch the news so much on tv. Try and read trusted news sources either in print or online.
Don’t watch garbage tv.
Try and create! If you enjoy drawing or painting or have something you can physically ‘do’ is such a useful de stresser.
The key to happiness for me is how I treat others. Simples
People are more callous, many are brought up from childhood to be like that. The elite are rushing their plans through and it's causing a lot of folks to notice. There's less money going around now, more stress in the world, America is being systematically destroyed from the inside like many western countries. Don't let your identity be what you consume or wear, smoke the herb and enjoy it, try appreciating nature, get out and breath the good air, don't be around people that suck the life from you.
I think weed allows you to question everything you see and hear. Again, probably too much at times but it is worrying what is going on.
My "bubble" is ok and makes me happy but it's the interactions I have with others out with that which leave me drained. Conversations present as a struggle for most and there's just a lack of interest shown to anybody.
I envy the era my parents grew up in. There was no money then too but at least people had a bit about them, style, music etc
I got 'bit' when i was in my late teens, and have been a Christian all that time, it helps, China has a social status system in place, it could be worse, least we can buy what we want. Be good consumers.😁 Be truth talkers.❤️
When you are told how to think and what to do, and this is policed you are dealing with a cult. That cult is ran by legacy media, the associated press which is directed and supervised by state tentacles. No NGO is really independent and all wrong think means that you don't deserve any due process. Look at the Brand situation. Without talking about whether he is guilty or not (which I really have no opinion on yet as nobody really can) - don't you think it's all a bit weird to come out now? It wreeks of a psyop but interestingly i don't think it's about him. It's about seeing if 50% of people are OK with the state punitively cancelling his prosperity with their sway before he has had a fair trial. And it seems, that like always, the unwitting enablers of throwing out due process are the progressives screaming only for Brand's blood. Ironically the same ones that absolutely loved him when he was being overtly sexist in 2010. It stinks to high heaven. The lot of it. I'm done trying to convince anyone. we are 100% at 1984.
It’s as if the human race is at the precipice of a huge event, you just look through history and the signs that are left following the extinction of advanced civilisation most of the time wiped out by nature or an asteroid.
The only difference now is we are now capable of wiping ourselves out.
Like who knows, maybe the reasons of all this heightened UAP stuff happening maybe extraterrestrial are aware we are close to another mass extinction and are just closely monitoring.
But I guess the reason people’s fun has been taken away is because more and more people are waking up to the fact that they are working their arses off to make richer people rich. A lot of people can’t afford a meal, the fact that I see more people who sell drugs donating to food banks than the corporations that don’t give a duck but pretend to do so.
Dystopia is here, buckle up, light a joint, look after your loved ones it’s gonna be a wild ride!
I can’t write anything as well put but yep it’s all going to shit, but I’m hoping this is just a process the elite are crumbling. I’ve been watching closely and do believe consciousness is rising on the planet at the moment and the end for them is near now that’s why they are scrambling round being as evil and money grabbing as they possibly can. Look up the age of Aquarius it’s not just a spiritual point in time but our planet has now shifted into a different atmosphere, very cool.
He's just jealous. But potentially correct. There's a great book called 'Our Final Century' by Martin Rees (a respected academic, not a conspiracist of any sort) that makes a very cogent argument for the same outcome. Along the same lines. It's all quite believable. But then again, anyone could have written the same sort of book hundreds of years ago when things looked darker still... and here we are. Smoking weed. Writing to strangers. On the internet. Big up humans! We'll be alright! They're just might not be so many of us one day...
The article says we need to get the ball rolling in 100 years as shits going to get real anywhere from 1000-10,000 years. I can really only worry about the world my kids and grand kids are going to Inherit. They are going to have to figure it out from there. Plus the current world is anxiety inducing enough for the average person and I can only do so much so I’ll leave it to the egg heads to agree on the next steps to mitigate disaster that far in the future. Who does Hawking think he is anyway, Nostradamus? Now where’s my indica?
Could governments use EMP devices to prevent malicious AI taking over the world
I’ve been in a weird stoned rabbit hole tonight researching ai and emps. I saw a lot of videos talking about the possibility of high level artificial intelligence some day in the future possibly taking over the human race, surely it would be fairly easy for humans to defend their selves by just using multiple EMP devices across the earth to damage all electrical equipment on earth, I know this would set the human race back a considerable amount of years but I think it would be worth it if it prevented an ai take over. There’s also the possibility that ai could try and defend its self using faraday cages or potentially moving it’s self off planet, but I think EMP may be are best hope. Any thoughts?
I like the dramatic nature of your thought. But honestly We can just programme servitude into the technological “DNA” of the AI and that would be end of most likely It can only do what it’s permitted to do by the people who designed it, for the most part. Things can always slip through the cracks though.
But going from that to a full-blown dystopian invasion of killer toasters is a big leap 😂
Personally, I think the more existential threat of AI would be it falling into the wrong hands, Or more worryingly, it already being in the wrong hands to begin with 🤐
You make a good point shaunyboy, it’s very unlikely they would turn rogue due to the boundaries coded into it, but your right if it got into the wrong hands who knows what might happen, hopefully everything ends up being alright, I guess sometimes I just get too stoned and worry my toaster might one day get up and put me in a choke hold for being to lazy to clean the crumbs out of it lol
Maybe if we were all nicer to the machines we would have nothing to worry about
If the AI is already that advanced.. Then you have to assume it's already hatched a counter plan.. To our plan.. Thing is once we reach the singularity, around 2030 or earlier, ai will be capable of replicating at nearly the speed of light.. Building better versions of itself at a rate humans wouldn't be able to comprehend. I they look for the reason the earth is in peril.. They'll discover that people are to blame. Skynet doesn't seem so bizzare these days. As for emps.. Probably computer controlled so again they've already realised and countered it. I'm extremely interested in the merging of AI with quantum computers. The very nature of quantum physics and AI combined in the wrong hands is very disturbing to say the least.
It will probably already be using satellites. The problem is that a genuine AI will learn from mistakes and constantly improve itself. The other problem is we share all of our ideas and knowledge online which it can analyse. I don't thinks it's good news :(
No, EMP is not a targeted thing, any EMP over a specific area will kill all technology in that area, including power and infrastructure we need to fight against AI. It would be a very clear example of cutting off your nose to spits your face. Unless somebody invents EMP that can target only specific devices, this is dead in the water.
Peter Thiel is the shit bag responsible for PrayPal. Trans-humanism as in symbiosis between man and machine is years and years away, current interfaces are painfully slow hence not even anywhere near transfer speeds that perform realtime tasks. So the creation of super humans that control the earth in some right wing dictatorial utopia will be superseded by massive economical changes, a shift in power from centralised to peer to peer and a complete overhaul of anything concerning taxation and renumeration.
Cryptocurrencies are gradually eating the foundations of the fractional banking system. The higher their price, the faster this process will continue. Once both reach par in annual turnover prices of crypto will be 100 or even 1000 times what they value today and the whole system will collapse, due to underfunding.
For sure there will be various attempts to curb it but they will all be useless. No regulative process outpaces technological advancement.
During this transformation a lot of wealth will be redistributed. It will be a time where ones (old fractional) assets will devaluate and/or disappear due to liquidity problems in the companies that house or manage them.
Ultimately societies will turn against their rulers as they fail to govern due to massive financial losses and historical debt.
There will be a new French Revolution leading to a society where freedom, equality and brotherhood, a maze of peer to peer transactions will replace the feudal and neo feudal power structures that inherited their wealth from their predecessors that stole it, corrupted it or took it by force.
Having had a good idea once or being an early bird with some service does not make one more intelligible or superior in whatever way. Hopefully anyone working for Peter will some day push that button.
As every 'revolution', the initial ideas were noble but then politics happened and a new pyramid appeared. New packaging, same shit. From feudalism to neo feudalism to hybrid of both.
Liberty = conditional Freedom = conditional Equality = conditional
De Montesquieu wouldn't be happy either as the implementation of the trias politica is a sham. Judges are appointed by politicians. Politicians make new legislation. A mayor is the head of the police yet also a politician.
That's a lot of politician and a particracy instead of real democracy but panem et circenses and the fact that whoever controls the media, is the mind, worked out very well. New technology however, is very incompatible with the current 'system'. It does not care about borders, it does not care about laws, it does not require an ID or nationality. We have reached the point in technological evolution that voids any sort of attempt to 'control' all flows of transactions and communication.
Whatever sort of society that is hierarchical ... left, right, center... it does not even matter, is prone to corruption and doomed to fail. Look at Europe, the empires all crumbled to nations that further crumbled due to nationalism or which are in the process to further divide. (Spain, Yugoslavia, Belgium, ...).
I believe that a society should be stateless. That does not mean that I'm against nationalism. What I'm saying is that there are other ways then nation states that stick up their nose in whatever you do.
So let's see where this all ends, ideas can't be destroyed, it takes 1 person to start an new technologic revolution 'overnight'.
